Are you trying to push on a closed door that won’t open?
Let me explain what I mean. There have been a number of times in my life and in the lives of my clients that we want something to happen so badly, that we just keep trying and trying and trying to make “IT” happen… to no avail. It really makes no difference what the IT is. It can be finding your ideal partner, starting your new business, or even loving yourself. Sometimes it feels the harder you try the faster your objective slips away!
Let’s take a look at what is going on when the doors won’t open. It may be that you have actually set yourself up to fail because of your own expectations. You do this when you have tunnel vision. The objective in your mind looks a certain way and you are determined to make your way work. When it does not materialize… what alternatives do you have? Work harder and harder or just give up completely are the first two things that often occur to you.
I know because I have been there many times myself. My patterns of work harder to make it happen stem from my childhood. My grandparents came to this country from Poland. They were my number one role model. Both worked about 18 hours a day or more and became early entrepreneurs by owning their own bakery. They did manage to make it work for them but only through struggle, sacrifice, and harder work than most of us could imagine. I saw very little joy in their lives.
If you have something you are trying to make happen in your life and pushing harder and harder on the door does not open it, then I would like to offer you another possibility. One that is filled with joy!
What if God, the Universe…whatever you call your higher power had even bigger and grander opportunities waiting for you, but you could not see it because you are so focused on making what you want to have happen…happen? I cannot tell you how dramatic the change can be when you realize that the door is not locked shut…it simply opens in…if you will only allow it to.
Allowing is the big key. Whenever you are pushing hard and the door won’t open, look to see if it opens in. You can do this by looking for God Winks (synchronicity). You know, those opportunities that seem to just appear. They may have been there all the time, only your tunnel vision prevented you from seeing them. You probably know the old saying, “let go and let God.” That is one thing I need to remind myself of often.
Take action, do all you can do and then let go and allow the universe to do its job! I often find taking a time out from the objective will allow miracles to occur. Take a short vacation, go fishing, find a meditation class or practice yoga…all will allow your life to flow. These are just some examples, do whatever it is that assists you to shift your perspective and let your life to simply unfold.
If you have trouble with allowing you may want to work with a coach to assist you in the process. I offer free 30-minute consultations and you can sign up here. Let’s begin today creating the life you want to live!
“Through allowing, you become what you are; vast, spacious. You become whole. You are not a fragment anymore, which is how the ego perceives itself. Your true nature emerges, which is one with the nature of God.”
